The Teaching Programme
The region is fortunate to have a multitude of experts in subspeciality fields.
Through monthly teaching days trainee's are able to benefit from their expertise.
Each session is located at a different trust across the northwest of england and includes a variety of teaching methods.
Centres used to host teaching days are selected based upon the particular experitse at that centre. For example the teaching on Paediatric Urology is held at Alder Hey.
Trainee's are encouraged to take an active role in these sessions and develop a range of educational skills.
Journal Club
The trainees benefit from a monthly Journal Club. This informal educational meeting is organised by the trainees themselves. Key scientific papers relevant to the FRCS examination are discussed in depth.
This invaluable educational resource is held in restaurants across the region and is funded through close relationships with representives from industry.
There is always a excellent turn out and offers an oppurtunity for trainees to meet in more informal surroundings.
The Region
We are proud to work in partnership with a plethora of excellent NHS institutions across the North West of England.
The deanery offers yearly rotations through a range of trusts allowing trainees to gain valuable experience of both district general practice and larger teaching hospitals.
For yearly rotations trainees are allocated to an East (Previously Manchester) or West (Previously Mersey) sector. Both sectors boast a range of centres of excellence and a wide range of subspecialties.
Trainees will benefit from opportunity to work with many of the regions most experienced Urologists.
